St. Matthew is an annual participant in the Heart and Soul Festival -
a celebration of Houston's Historic Sacred Places Along the Main Street Corridor which comes alive with pealing bells, organ
concerts, and glimpses of classic architecture and history,
as we along with a host of other churches and synagogues
in the city's epicenter open our doors to the community.
Of all the beautiful stained glass windows at St. Matthew, the ones
that are the most unique are those dedicated to women. The
windows include those depicting women at work; Sarah, wife of Abraham, Mary visiting Elizabeth; Mary and Martha;
and Dorcas, known for making garments for
the needy.
Don't miss this once a year spring event opportunity to peek behind the doors of some of Houston's oldest and most famous places
of worship. Free tours and activities take place throughout
the day, from the downtown business district
to Hermann Park
