Lutheran Beliefs

Luther's Rose
Within the collection of churches who confess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord there are various forms and styles of worship.  Lutheran worship reflects our heritage.
The way we worship could be described as "reformed-Catholic."  There are elements in our worship services which reflect our roots in the Catholic Church, and elements which are a result of Martin Luther's Reformation in the 16th century.

Lutheran worship is an attempt to be faithful to historic   Christianity from the time of our Lord and His disciples to the present. The hymns we sing are predominantly the classics of both the ancient and modern church.  Occasionally, we also use contemporary songs.  Primary attention is given to the Bible, which we believe is the Word of God and to the Sacraments (Baptism and Holy Communion) which Jesus commanded us to practice.  Through these, God speaks and we listen; He calls us by name and makes us His own;  He proclaims us forgiven and we are made new again, empowered to go in His name.  In a world where change often appears to be the only constant, our style of worship has stood the test of time in its same-ness confirming the faithfulness of our God who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
